2-Orientation Overview

The purpose of this orientation is to help you understand the PVOnline system and provide support that will help you succeed as an online student.  You will learn:
  • how to navigate the online environment
  • how to submit assignments
  • how to contact your teacher
  • where to find grades and teacher feedback
  • how to be a successful online student

  • PVOnline is a self-paced environment; HOWEVER,  "Working at your own pace"  DOES NOT mean that students do not actively participate in the class each week.   Self-paced means you choose when to do your work in order to meet deadlines.

  • You have a teacher. Your teacher grades work, provides feedback, and is available to answer questions.
  • You have one week to decide if you want to drop your course.  Teachers submit the names of students to drop from summer school at the end of the first week.  You need to decide by June 4th if you want to be a summer school student.
  • You must take an active role with your learning. You have 24/7 access to your class. Pacing is critical as you work through sections.  Plan on spending 20 hours a week working on your course.
  • Assignments take many forms -  writing assignments, quizzes, tests, web-based activities, and video presentations.  All courses have either a final exam or a final project.
  • PVOnline courses are designed to be a one semester course.  All courses have pacing guides to guide you in working consistently every week to complete the course in a six week summer session.
  • Independent learning can be challenging.  Teachers are available, and you need to reach out to them when you have a question.
